Sandhya Devanathan

Sandhya Devanathan is Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Australia at OpenAI, where she leads regional business strategy and growth, alongside the company’s Ads business across Asia Pacific. She works with businesses, governments, and educational institutions to put AI to work, from improving everyday productivity to developing new products and services. Her focus is on building local teams, strengthening partnerships, and helping organisations turn AI adoption into practical results. Sandhya brings over 25 years of global experience in growing businesses, building teams, and driving product innovation across technology and financial services.

Before joining OpenAI, Sandhya was Vice President of India & Southeast Asia at Meta, where she led strategy, revenue operations, and key partnerships with businesses, creators, and ecosystem partners across Meta’s family of apps. She joined Meta in 2016 and held a range of leadership roles across the region, initially helping expand its presence in Singapore and Vietnam before leading ecommerce initiatives across Southeast Asia and then the APAC Gaming business. In 2022, she took on the role of leading Meta’s India business, before assuming responsibility for the combined India & Southeast Asia market in 2025.

Earlier in her career, Sandhya spent over 16 years in the financial services industry. At Citibank, she held leadership roles in strategy, product, and portfolio management across India, the Philippines, and the United States. She later served as Managing Director at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, leading Retail Banking and payments product teams.

Sandhya currently serves on the board of Sport Singapore. Her previous board roles include the US-India Business Council, Reliance Intelligence, and Singapore’s National Library Board.
