Josh Tyrangiel
Josh Tyrangiel is one of America’s leading voices on technology, media, and the future of society—a 12-time Emmy Award winning journalist, editor, and filmmaker whose reporting and ideas have shaped how millions understand the forces transforming modern life.
A staff writer at The Atlantic and formerly the Washington Post’s first-ever AI columnist, Tyrangiel uses his access to Silicon Valley’s CEOs, engineers, and elected officials to sort the genuine innovators from the scoundrels—cutting through utopian hype and apocalyptic fear-mongering to reveal what AI can actually do today, and what it might mean for society tomorrow.
His book, AI for Good—published by Simon & Schuster in May 2026—is a deeply reported look at how artificial intelligence can strengthen, rather than erode, the core systems of American life. Previously, Tyrangiel served as Editor of Bloomberg Businessweek and Chief Content Officer of Bloomberg Media, where he led one of the most successful editorial reinventions of the digital era. Under his leadership, Businessweek became known for its indelible covers and pioneering data-driven storytelling, earning the magazine a National Magazine Award for General Excellence and Tyrangiel the title of Ad Age’s Editor of the Year. Before Bloomberg, he spent more than a decade at TIME, writing dozens of cover stories and ultimately serving as Deputy Managing Editor.
Tyrangiel is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a master’s degree in American Studies from Yale. He lives in New York City with his family.
